Is That All?

Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? (1 John 5:5)

Before we were saved, we were obsessed with the world, its affairs, and all manner of worldly things. It mattered greatly what others thought and said about us, how well we were liked, and whether or not we were accepted. But once we looked into the face of Jesus Christ, we saw what God values, and nothing mattered anymore but Him. That's how you know a true Christian; their life, speech and actions have a heavenly fragrance about them. God's love flows through them all the time, because He abides in them and with them. These are the ones who have come to Jesus and overcome the world in Him.

"You mean, all I have to do is believe?"

"I don't have to follow laws and rules, submit myself to religious rituals, doing good things, or perform heroic acts of sacrifice?"

No. All you and I must do is believe that Jesus is the Son of God, God Himself, who came in flesh to destroy the works of the devil and redeem those who receive Him. This is the Good News, and we must be sure to accept it in its fullness and simplicity. Nothing can be added to it or subtracted from it. Jesus is the fullness of the Godhead and the complete Message and Messenger of God. He has overcome the world, and we are overcomers in Him.

So, keep it simple, my friends. It all about Jesus and nothing else. Amen!

Let's Pray - Father, I choose the simplicity of faith in Jesus with nothing added and nothing taken away. Thank You that all the fullness of God dwells in Him alone. Amen.
