Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. (James 4:7)
Humility is the weapon the devil has no answer for, because he cannot humble himself — so, the most effective posture we can take against the wily tactics of Satan is falling to our knees before God’s throne. The saint bowed low in prayer and intercession cannot be touched by the lies of the accuser, the lust of the flesh, nor the lures of the world. Down at the Lord’s feet is the highest place!
We must resist the temptation to lift ourselves up, and to present ourselves or our works as something wonderful in themselves. "Look at us!" "Look at me!" "Look at what God is doing over here!" That is an earmark of carnality, the crass and commercial spirit of the day. Yet, God looks to abide in the company of saints bowed down in worship, not lifting themselves up to be noticed and praised.
If the Lord deems us trustworthy, He will send us to share the Gospel with others, but woe to us if we promote ourselves and go without being sent. If you are sent, go. If not, wait, be still, and know that He is God. Satan cannot abide your patience or your humility, and he will flee. Good riddance.
Let’s Pray – Father, I humble myself in Your sight, and You will lift me up in due season. Until then, I am content in Your care and at Your feet. Thank You for Your Holy Spirit of peace. Amen.
Yes and AMEN.
