Then He spoke a parable to them: “No one puts a piece from a new garment on an old one; otherwise the new makes a tear, and also the piece that was taken out of the new does not match the old. And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; or else the new wine will burst the wineskins and be spilled, and the wineskins will be ruined. But new wine must be put into new wineskins, and both are preserved. And no one, having drunk old wine, immediately desires new; for he says, ‘The old is better.’” (Luke 5:36-39)
When God's Kingdom comes, it brings a new way of seeing ourselves and everything around us. It's not that we did not see, but we did not see God! Our ability to perceive and understand spiritual things lies dormant until our spirits have been quickened by the Holy Spirit. Only then does the Word of the Lord begin to make sense and the Way becomes clear. This clarity is the birthright of the saint alone, while every other person walks in the darkness of the old; for only Christ can shine the light so we might see as He sees — so that we might see God.
Beware of the temptation to base your spiritual beliefs on the things around you. The saint who walks closely with God walks by faith and not by natural sight. The unseen reality is that which is most important to acknowledge, and that is why we pray to the Father for His wisdom and spiritual understanding. The worldly viewpoint stands on human wisdom, while the Kingdom of God is a matter of eternal issues and realities. Our flesh will always hold on to the old and familiar, but our spirit-man knows God is doing a new thing in us, and the best is yet to come. Take hold of God in the spirit, and He will show you great and mighty things. Take hold of the new.
Let's Pray - Dear Lord, may my heart remain open to the new things You place before me — things that I have never done or seen before! Thank You for this exciting life of faith! Amen.
Amen! This is good food PE.
