“His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.” (Matthew 25:23)
God loves nothing more than relationship. This is proven by the fact that He sent His Son, Jesus, to die for us all that we might become His children and have relationship with Him. An essential earmark of that relationship is trust. God is trustworthy, and we must become so. Trust means the parties involved can depend on the other’s faithfulness, truthfulness, and loyalty. Trust allows us to expect righteous dealings from the other, and it shares mutual understanding of acceptable behavior and agreed upon standards. Trust means each party does its best to keep up its end of the bargain and to honor the other without fail. Without trust, marriages, families, churches, and governments function poorly or fail altogether. May we all become worthy of God’s trust.
While the Lord never instructs us to trust in men (or ourselves), He does expect us to become trustworthy. He has every right to expect such, because He’s given us His Holy Spirit as our Guide and Teacher. We will give an account for how we handle our lives and opportunities, so we must give our undivided attention and earnest effort to living acceptably before the Lord. Are you being trustworthy and faithful in God’s opinion? It’s a matter of reward or loss, so you need to be sure.
Amen!!! As the year 2019 is drawing to a close...I find this Word well worth examining myself to make sure that I am allowing the Father to leave no stones unturned as it pertains to me. He has been exposing all and the light has been shining into all of our dark places like never before. When the dust clears...who shall be left standing? Only HIM. Only Jesus and in whom His abiding spirit after all has been shaken and exposed...is still standing. No stony places left unturned. He is....He Is My Confidence.!!!! In Him shall I put my trust. I remain faithful, with clean hands and a clean heart, and trustworthy. Having no confidence in myself but IN HIM.
