Character and Time

Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. (Romans 12:21)

 

True Christian character is revealed in the tireless war it wages against the godlessness all around it. Those who have this character understand the battle for life and righteousness is the Lord's, and the victory is at hand no matter the present circumstance. We know that the earth is the Lord's, and He is fully in control of all things. The life of Christ in us will outwork, out flank, and outlast the wiles and wickedness of hell, and we will endure to the end and glorify the Savior acceptably.

 

God's grace and mercy are working effectively in us, and we are to display that work in every deed and conversation. That is how the Lord is glorified, how the lost are found, how the blind see, how the naked are clothed, and how the poor hear the good news. That is how we overcome evil with good, and that is how we overcome evil with God.

 

Let's Pray - Father, I understand the Holy Spirit is developing godliness in me day by day, and may I let patience have its perfect work. Help and encourage me on this journey to spiritual maturity and thank You for being patient with me. Amen.

Only in the Spirit

"God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth." (John 4:24)   Everyone and everything on earth that pleases the Father does so according to the leading and power of the Spirit. That is why Jesus insisted His disciples wait before they went out to preach the Gospel —  "And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever . . ." (John 14:16)  The "Helper" is God Himself, the Holy Spirit. Just as the Father and Son are God, so is the Spirit; and they are united in their determination to bring many sons and daughters to glory. Rooted in Christ

Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.
