Friend of God

Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. (James 4:4)

 A friend of God will never submit to the authority of any other spirit, nor will he bow down at the shrine of success, popularity, or acceptance. Those things are an affront to the Lord and worthless to His disciples. God's friend fears Him only, while refusing to cower before men or adhere to world's standards. The victorious saint knows the kingdom, and the power, and the glory are the Lord's; and that triumphant saint is, first and foremost, a friend of God.

 

God will never compete with anything or anyone for our love and worship, for no one or nothing compares to Him. He is searching for those who have turned away from earthly cares and pleasures. He is searching for those who have responded to the Good News by believing and receiving the greatest gift of all, Jesus Christ. He is searching for those who will worship Him in spirit and in truth. He is searching for those who have emptied themselves, that He might fill them and reveal Himself to them. He is searching for those who are longing to know Him. He is searching for you.  

 

Let’s Pray – Father, I choose to esteem Your approval and acceptance over that of the world. I am exclusively Yours, and I long to be fitted for Your purpose and Your Kingdom. I want to be Your friend today and forever. Amen.
