The Presence of God

But he (Samson) did not know that the Lord had departed from him. (Judges 16:20b)

And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. (Ephesians 4:30)

Respect and reverence for the work and person of the Holy Spirit is the solemn and awesome privilege of every believer. We must always be careful to handle ourselves in a way that realizes the constant presence of God wherever we are and whatever we do. Carelessness in our personal habits and dealings dulls our ability to hear and discern the still small voice of God. He will not shout over the din of the world or the busyness of our schedules. So, we must be careful not to grieve Him away - - some of us have done so and do not realize it.

Every Christian must come to realize what makes us the children of God - - the Spirit of God has been given to live in our hearts. That is the only difference between us and every other well-meaning religious person, and that difference is consequential and eternal. Paying the more earnest heed to the Spirit's voice and direction is the most important decision we can make. It is the difference between blessed assurance and dangerous presumption. May we find ourselves more and more aware and appreciative of the Holy Spirit and His work on our behalf - - and may we give Him thanks, more and more.

Let's Pray - Dear Father, forgive me for failing to recognize and respect Your holy presence. May the words I speak and the thoughts I entertain be acceptable to You always. In Jesus, amen.

  1. The comfort and power of the Holy Spirit astounds me..
I want to stay tuned in closely..to the very presence of God.
    Thank you...

  2. Forgive me Father for that which is also unknown to me. For I never want to grieve you in any way. Rule in my heart Father more than anything else. Thank you. Amen.

  3. Yes! Lord help me to be sensitive and responsive to Your voice at all times.

  4. Thank you Father for sealing me with your Holy Spirit. Daily surrender. Man, I got my work cut out for me. Thanks Pastor for this reminder to keep pressing, with a mold-able heart and open ears.
