Keep It Simple

Now this I say lest anyone should deceive you with persuasive words. (Colossians 2:4)

There will never be an end to teachers and their teachings they claim are based on a deeper understanding than others have received. This "revelation" runs counter to the Gospel both in substance and simplicity. It claims a unique and superior perspective and always sets itself beyond the reach of the scriptures. This type of teaching is rooted in skepticism, unbelief, and pride. We are called to reject such nonsense, as it is an age-old trick of Satan, who understands the temptations of the flesh and man's tendency toward waywardness. God gives and honors the simplicity of faith in Jesus Christ, for in Him alone is the counsel of God.

Beware of those who boast of their knowledge of mysteries and hidden things that only a superior class of "teachers" possess. These are men and women who seek to turn the preaching of the Gospel into enterprises and empires, and these false teachers have fallen headlong into the snare of Satan.

"Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give." (Matthew 10:8)

Christ is the revelation of God, and He speaks so clearly that even a child can understand; and when we are like children, we will hear Him every time. May the Lord protect us from false teachers; and may He give us greater discernment, and the ear to hear what the Spirit says to the Church.

Let's Pray Dear Lord, I will cling to the simplicity of the Good News of Jesus Christ. Help me to walk in the assurance that He is all I need, and that I be found in Him alone. Amen.

  1. Father I desire to walk in the assurance that you are all I need and to be found in YOU alone. I know this in my head and have tasted this truth in experience in areas of my life. But I long to know this as my Reality in experience...moreso. May it be less in my head and rise up in my walk and spirit as apart of me. Outta my head into my heart. Let me also NOT fear to ask this of you because of the difficult lessons that may occur to get me to this place in the real. My spirit is willing far more than my flesh. You oh Lord reign though. Pastor help me go beyond what I can see and imagine and even believe...to KNOW HIM and OBEY/FOLLOW. Thank you.
